Marketplace Tech etiquette go-to Janelle Burley Hofmann is a Cape Cod mother of five who also teaches parenting workshops. Like all of us, she’s been running into many questions about how to behave with tech in the household. Today’s topic: Sleepovers.

How do you host a sleepover for your kids without smartphones getting in the way?

Hofmann’s advice:

Set guidelines ahead of time. Before the sleepover, let other families know your household tech rules, such as no phones after 9 pm. Give parents your landline or cell number in case they need to reach their children.
