This final note on the way out today: a reminder that sometimes business is still done the old-fashioned way.

Remember how Donald Trump hosted “Saturday Night Live” last week?

And how there was all kinds of speculation his rivals for the GOP nomination would ask for equal time as the law allows?

Three of ’em have. Lindsey Graham, George Pataki and John Kasich each sent letters — actual letters — to NBC and its affiliates asking for air time. Trump was on screen for 12 minutes and 5 seconds, if you wanna keep track on this one.

Also corresponding the old-fashioned way?

Janet Yellen, the chair of the federal reserve. Doctor Yellen sent a letter today to Paul Ryan, speaker of the house, and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, telling Congress — in essence — to keep its hands off monetary policy.

There’s a bill up for debate, could be voted on this week, that would force the Fed to tie interest rates to a mathematical formula based on unemployment and inflation.

Yellen called it a grave mistake.
